Architects and interior designers in South Mumbai.
Heritage precincts, Art Deco apartments and old family homes that deserve careful, modern interiors. We work across Colaba, Fort, Malabar Hill, Cuffe Parade and Marine Drive.
Designing for South Mumbai
South Mumbai holds the city's oldest building stock. The Victorian Gothic and Art Deco ensemble around the Oval Maidan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and many streets beyond it sit inside heritage precincts. Apartments here often have high ceilings, deep verandahs and generous windows that newer buildings simply do not offer.
Most of our thinking for this part of the city is about restraint. We work to keep original flooring, mouldings and window frames where they survive, repair what can be repaired, and bring in new services, kitchens and bathrooms without fighting the old structure.
Work on graded heritage buildings or inside a precinct can need review by the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee in addition to the usual municipal permissions. We prepare drawings with that review in mind from the start, which saves months later.
Projects
What we design in South Mumbai.
Architecture, interiors and landscape, from a single room to a whole building. See the practice
Art Deco apartments
Restoring the character of 1930s flats while reworking plans, wiring and plumbing for modern life.
Heritage interiors
Careful repair and adaptation inside graded buildings and precincts, with conservation-minded detailing.
Sea-facing homes
Interiors for Marine Drive and Cuffe Parade apartments that handle salt air, glare and monsoon wind.
Process
Clear steps, no surprises.
Each stage ends with clear decisions, drawings and costs agreed with you before we move on.
Listen
We begin with conversations, not drawings. How you live or work, what you love about the places you know, what the budget and timeline really are.
Read the site
Sun paths, prevailing winds, views, neighbours, soil and regulations. The site sets the first rules of the design.
Concept
Sketches, models and early studies that test a few clear ideas. We choose one direction together before going further.
Design development
Plans, sections, materials and details refined with structural and services consultants, with cost checked at every stage.
Drawings & approvals
Complete construction drawings, specifications and the documentation needed for statutory approvals.
On site
Regular site visits, mock-ups and close work with contractors and craftspeople until the last detail is in place.
