Azhar Architecture is an architecture and interior design practice based in Mumbai. We design spaces that are calm, practical and deeply rooted in their place.
About the practice
We believe good buildings are made slowly and carefully, through close attention to a site and honest conversation with the people who will use them.
Our work spans private homes, apartment interiors, workplaces and hospitality. Whatever the scale, the approach stays the same: understand the climate, respect the context, use materials truthfully and resolve every detail.
The studio is principal-led and deliberately small. That means the person who draws the first sketch is also the person on site checking a stone joint months later. Clients deal directly with the designers, and decisions are made quickly and clearly.
We work alongside a trusted network of structural engineers, services consultants, landscape specialists, lighting designers and craftspeople, bringing in the right people for each project.

Built for the monsoon
Over two metres of rain arrives in a few months. Pitched and overhanging roofs, protected openings and detailing that sheds water are designed in from day one.
Shade before cooling
Deep verandahs, screens and thick walls keep heat out so that air conditioning becomes a choice, not a necessity.
Made for sea air
Salt and humidity are hard on buildings. We choose materials and finishes that age well by the coast and stay easy to maintain.

Courtyards, light wells and cross ventilation bring daylight and air into tight urban plots without giving up privacy.
